Assistive Technology Trainer
Role Description
Complete Communication Ltd provides academic support to students in receipt of Disabled Student Allowance (DSA). We are passionate about providing high-quality support workers who can help to make a difference to our students studying higher education courses throughout the UK.
With recent and continued expansion, we are looking to expand the wealth of knowledge that we have with highly qualified and experienced specialist support staff. The role that we are currently looking for is Assistive Technology Trainers.
Your Role
You will provide one to one training to disabled people and those with specific learning difficulties in assistive technology. Initially, you will need to provide a professional assessment of the student’s needs to establish their specific requirements ensuring training for the individual is appropriate to their disability and environment. The student will then need training on how to use the specific software or hardware that has been recommended for them. Each student will have different needs or technologies available to them, so it is important that you remain up to date with advances in technology and equipment.
All candidates must possess the relevant qualifications and proven experience in training on computer software or hardware for disabled people or people with specific learning difficulties. You are required to have experience in training on a one to one basis or in small groups. You will be able to learn new assistive software and hardware when necessary and will already have experience in teaching or training on the following software or hardware:
Inspiration, Mind Manager Pro, Dragon Naturally Speaking, textHELP Read & Write, typing tutors, various dictionaries, Dolphin, Zoomtext, JAWS, Claroread. Digital voice recorders, scanning pens, personal organisers, electronic dictionaries, Alphasmart. Also, MS Office suite
Your Qualifications/training
Whilst no mandatory qualifications or professional body memberships are required, you will need to be educated to GCSE level and demonstrate and enthusiastic demeanour towards academia. You will also need to have experience in teaching the above technologies.

The working hours vary according to the needs of the student and their academic timetable. All support workers are paid on a self-employed basis whereby they are responsible for paying their own NI contributions and tax.
