Our Story

Our beginnings

Welcome to Complete Communication Ltd!

Formed in 2019 at the dining room table of the two directors, a month before their first daughter was born and at the beginning of a pandemic, BUT that didn’t stop us!

By combining the knowledge of two experienced support professionals, we were able to ensure our clients receive the best service possible and always feel valued.

We aim to provide a friendly, bespoke, and most importantly, personable service for disabled and deaf people and the services which support them.

Our values

Our vision

Our vision is for deaf and disabled people to live in a world where they feel equal and valued by society.

Our mission

Work with organisations, communication and support specialists to ensure deaf and disabled people can be equal and active members of society.

Our commitment to the wellbeing of our staff and supply chain

Established in 2004, Mindful Employer is a UK wide initiative run by Devon Partnership NHS Trust. The initiative aims to help empower employers to take a lead in supporting the mental wellbeing of their staff and aligns perfectly with our company ethos and goals.

To demonstrate our commitment to supporting the mental wellbeing of our team we have signed the ‘Charter for Employer Positive About Mental Health’ to publicly demonstrate our desire to support the mental health of our staff across the organisation.

All office staff are training to complete the Wellbeing Champion certification. A Wellbeing Champion is someone who, with training and support, voluntarily bring their ability to relate to people and their own life experience to transform health and well-being in their teams. They will help others to enjoy healthier lives by raising awareness of health and healthy choices, sharing health messages, removing barriers and creating supportive networks and environments.

We are a disability confident leader

As a company, we are passionate about promoting and ensuring that deaf and disabled people can have full access to all services they need and feel like a valued members of their community. This passion continues within our recruitment process, where we work to promote an inclusive workplace and strongly encourage applications from deaf and disabled applicants for any of our current and future roles. As of August 2021, at least 1/3 of our employees have declared they have a disability or a long-term health condition.
Our values and mission are an integral part of our company culture, whereby our staff and trusted partner’s mental health and wellbeing are core to us. As such, our team is always here to support you both professionally and personally. To find out more about working with us, click here.

Reviews

Sharon Saunders, Deaf Access and Inclusion Worker

“I have worked with Daryl within a variety of settings, including education setting for nearly five years. Daryl always delivered professional and highly skilled BSL/English interpretation.

He has also consistently provided high quality spoken English to match both my professional standing and to match the needs of the clients I work with (I have been told this by hearing clients and colleagues).

Billie Snowden, BSL/English Interpreter

“The session was BEAUTIFUL! There was an entire Deaf community there, at least 8-10 BSL users, who’d been involved in one of the art projects. The event was incredibly inclusive, and I was so well looked after. It was the most lovely evening – a triumph I’d say!”

Beverly George - Teacher of the Deaf, Acting Co-ordinator Hearing Support Centre

“I have known Daryl in both educational and religious settings and have found him to be utterly professional, sensitive to the needs of the client and setting, whilst ensuring their needs are met and communication is naturally facilitated.

He has outstanding BSL skills and extensive experience of working with a variety of education professionals.

Ruby Starheart, Exeter Royal Academy for the Deaf

“Daryl helped us out at the last minute for our Open Day to interpret both for staff and students. He was very professional, co-interpreting alongside a second interpreter and ensuring that formal and informal communications were well attended to.

Daryl is friendly and was happy to help out wherever needed on a busy day. Daryl did a brilliant job and I would definitely recommend him. Thank you, Daryl.”

Mandy Barrett, Communication Support Worker

“Consummate professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. Skilled at working with challenging clients, providing humour when needed and excellent cake baking skills. Highly recommend working with Daryl! I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr McMullan.”

Laura Denning, Artist and researcher

“Without a doubt YOU (Daryl) are a major reason why last night went so well! I can’t thank you enough – you put us all, me included, at our ease, and your management of the rehearsal (in easy bites) was perfect. I learned so much as well, above and beyond the signing of the poem. I have already had feedback for choir members eager to sign your praises…… “

Caroline Page, Sensory Solutions Manager

“We regularly work with Daryl for our interpreting needs and find him extremely professional. He is always really quick to respond to booking enquiries and willing to discuss and accommodate our requirements. At events he is always friendly and approachable which helps ensure our events are a success”

Claire Nannelli, Higher Education Student

“I first met Daryl as he was the interpreter for my college interviews and he also was my interpreter for my course that started in November 2014. I find Daryl to be a very professional interpreter.

He also always make sure my course going smoothly and has given me lots of confident to do my coursework. I am also pleased with his signing, as it is very clear and also he very deaf aware”

Stephanie Aindow, Freelance BSL/English Interpreter

“I’ve worked with Daryl in a range of settings, from big top tents to a climbing wall! As an interpreter, no matter what the situation he remains calm, collected and highly skilled.

As a co-worker he offers reliability, support and most of all a great work ethic. Always a pleasure to be around”

Amanda Gilbert, Freelance Illustrator

“Daryl supported me whilst I was completing my BA Illustration degree. In this time I have not only seen the development of Daryl’s signing ability to become a competent signer within the higher education sector but also been impressed with his professionalism and ability to ensure that the needs of the student and the course are being met.

Darren Valentine, Chairman of Charity Trustee

“Daryl has worked with both myself and Blake Lodge (Plymouth Deaf Association) for the last two years as both a Communication Support Worker (BSL) and BSL/English interpreter.

He has worked and interpreted in a variety of settings, such as staff training, general meetings, AGM’s, as well as providing office support with reference to phone calls, document translation, etc.

Khalid Ashraf, Onscreen Presenter at ITV

“Daryl has always shown quality, enthusiasm, patience, friendliness and professionalism within his interpreting work, which are the reasons why I chose him to provide BSL/English Interpreting support. He is one of the rare breeds of interpreters who are easy to work with.

I would definitely recommend working with him since he has shown a strong passion to interpret which was demonstrated during our summer festival in July – August.”
