Rachel McMullan

The kindest person at Complete Communication

What is your name?

Rachel McMullan

What role do you do?

At Complete Communication, I have two roles. The first is working with the bookings team, where I help to arrange and allocate support for our clients. This can range from making timetables, arranging support for our clients within the workplace and ensuring that the support provided is tailored to meet our client’s individual needs.

It can take a considerable amount of time to decipher students’ timetables and identify, along with the student, when support is required and the best provision to allocate, but it is worth the effort.

I also respond to clients’ emails and communication with staff and trusted partners to ensure support is arranged and ensure we remain compliant.

My other role is within Complete Independence, where I work as a support worker for clients who are receiving Access- To-Work (ATW) or community-based support. This varies from me going to their workplace for support or helping them with their day-to-day life, such as taking them on days out, shopping etc.

Why did you choose this role?

Before I joined Complete Communication, I worked in care where I had to support clients with disabilities and health conditions, which was an extremely rewarding role.

Within my role at both companies, I’m able to continue to support clients to achieve their goals, which is something I’m passionate about. Each day is different, and I like different challenges.

What do you enjoy the most about your role?

At Complete Communication, I enjoy meeting new people and assisting them to achieve their goals. I enjoy our office environment; the staff are very friendly, and we all work together as a team. I also enjoy being out of the office when I help support students, which can at times, be challenging but, again, has its rewards. It’s always nice to see my clients happy and know that I’ve made that happen.

What are your favourite aspects of being part of the office team?

At Complete Communication, I enjoy working with the team because we have a very friendly atmosphere, everyone is here to help.

What is your favourite moment/story from within the office?

At Complete Communication, we play a game each week where we have to decide between two cards, which I find hilarious.

I love when we have staff days out, such as our Christmas events or meals that everyone attends and who doesn’t love our funny Secret Santa’s?

Another funny moment is when office staff have competitions doing silly activities such as who can do the best cartwheel etc.

Any tips or advice you would share to those who are in similar roles?

Always be yourself. Sometimes, the role can be very challenging as all clients are different and can come with their own individual needs. It is important to remember to always remain professional and to maintain professional boundaries. Look after yourself, take breaks and let others in your team support you to be your best.
